This very beautiful, sweet girl appears to be a Blue Tick Hound/German Shorthaired Pointer (mix). She came in to our shelter on 10/20/17 and we love her. She is between 2 and 3 years old and weighs a perfect 47 pounds. We are hoping that she and our resident Preacher can be roommates as soon as Abigail recovers from being spayed.
She is a careful girl and still shy here, but we are giving her plenty of love and our dog therapy group is concentrating on making her feel at home UNTIL her forever home discovers her.
Abby is warming up to Scott (of our staff) and she is now wagging her tail at him and taking treats from his hands. She also gets "down in the butt" and acts like she wants to run and play with him. This makes Scott very happy and it tells us that she WANTS to trust people.
Yesterday our therapy group sat with Abigail several times and loved on her for a long time. After gently taking boiled chicken from our hands, she finally relaxed into the love and nearly fell asleep. She wants to trust people and just has to get used to us in order to do so. She is a smart and careful girl and we can’t hold that against her.
Abby’s fur is the softest and silkiest fur of any dog at our shelter right now. Her face and ears are especially soft. Her coat is mostly white with black blotches and spots decorating it nicely. We are all in love with her and it won’t be long before she is in love with us too.
We think her best home would be one with at least one other dog and a securely fenced yard. Abigail is still getting used to being walked on a leash and isn’t very good at it yet. She isn’t yet ready to be leash walked in chaotic areas of down busy streets.
